This crash has been reported in versions 1.0.0 and 1.0.1, particularly when accessing part libraries. The issue has been resolved in later releases. Upgrade to version 1.0.7 and clear your application cache if problems persist. You can also try resetting Fritzing‘s preferences by deleting ~/Library/Preferences/org.fritzing.Fritzing.plist .
The built-in parts library is limited. To expand it:
Fritzing 1.0.7 has transformed the Mac experience with native Apple Silicon support, dramatically improved performance, and a host of stability fixes. For hobbyists, students, and educators who want an approachable gateway into electronics design, downloading Fritzing on Mac is a decision you will not regret.
Unlike professional ECAD software (like KiCad or Altium), Fritzing allows you to drag and drop components directly onto a virtual breadboard.
: Includes pre-made components for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, SparkFun, and Adafruit.
Upon first launch, Fritzing will ask for permission to access your "Documents" folder to save parts libraries. Grant this permission; otherwise, you cannot save custom components.
This indicates that Rosetta 2 is missing. Install it via Terminal as shown above, then relaunch Fritzing. Alternatively, upgrade to Fritzing 1.0.7, which runs natively on Apple Silicon and eliminates the need for Rosetta altogether.
