Mastering nHair is a foundational skill for any character TD or generalist 3D artist. The ability to create dynamic, responsive hair that moves naturally with a character is what elevates a good animation to a great one. So, load up Maya, start with a simple scalp mesh, and begin experimenting. With patience and practice, the world of dynamic hair will open up, providing the final touch of realism and life your characters deserve.

By default, gravity pulls straight down (Y-axis -1). If your character is leaning forward, the hair will fall through their face. The secret is to rotate the Gravity Direction to match the character's world space.

To create hair with NHair, you'll need to create a new NHair node and then add a hair curve to your scene. You can do this by going to the menu and selecting N Hair > Hair Curve . This will create a new hair curve that you can use to control the shape and movement of your hair.
