"Service Required: Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your documentation."
The counter-argument: The SX125 was sold for less than the cost of a replacement ink cartridge set. The waste ink pads can hold far more ink than the counter allows. A motivated user can extract the chassis, wash and dry the felt pads, or install an external waste ink tank (a tube routed to a bottle outside the printer). Then using the Adjustment Program completes a legitimate, sustainable repair.
To resolve issues where an Epson SX125 incorrectly reports paper jams or requires a reset of the waste ink pad counter , you can use the Epson Adjustment Program (often called a "Resetter"). 1. Using the Adjustment Program
: Open the bottom/back printer compartment, slide out the saturated felt pads, and replace them with a new set.
| | Description | | :--- | :--- | | Waste Ink Pad Counter Reset | The primary and most common function. Resets the counter to allow the printer to function again. | | Initial Ink Charge | Fills the print head with ink, a necessary procedure when installing a new print head. | | Print Head Alignment | Adjusts the print head to ensure optimal print quality and prevent misalignment. | | Printer Information Check | Retrieves and displays printer information, error logs, and usage statistics. | | EEPROM Initialization | Resets the printer's electronic memory to factory-like settings, useful after main board replacement or to resolve persistent errors. |
Note: Some Windows Defender or antivirus programs flag adjustment utilities as false positives due to how the software modifies hardware registers. If necessary, temporarily disable your antivirus real-time protection before extracting. Step 2: Open the Utility
(use at your own discretion, always with antivirus active):
In the program, ensure “Epson SX 125” is selected. If it shows a generic “Epson Stylus Series,” click “Select” and manually choose SX 125.
Ensure the printer is powered on, even if the red lights are flashing.
