Feeling sympathetic, Donna and Angie attempted to care for the spirit, but the entity’s behavior grew increasingly malicious and violent. A friend of the roommates, a young man named Lou, began having nightmarish dreams of the doll strangling him. He woke up one night to find himself unable to move, with strange, unexplained scratches on his chest.

Desperate for help, the couple turns to Father Perez (Tony Amendola), a local priest, and Evelyn (Alfre Woodard), a bookstore owner who possesses knowledge of the occult. Father Perez attempts to remove the doll from the building but is violently attacked by the demon, leaving him hospitalized.

In another bizarre coincidence, a heavy light fixture suddenly detached from the ceiling and fell onto a security guard on set. The accident happened in the exact hallway where the script dictated a character would be killed by the demon. Annabelle 1
